Next Steps

by Serena
Our ABWE colleagues here in Mango have recently voted to approve our extension of service as teachers for the missionary kids in northern Togo for the 2024/2025 school year.  We will have a record number of MKs at the school next year since all the families who serve at the Hospital of Hope and at...CONTINUE READING

Our First Christmas in Togo

by Serena
I’m not gonna lie… I was kinda dreading this first Christmas in Togo. Mainly because, for the first time ever, we weren’t going to have Sierra with us. That, and the fact that we hadn’t really come prepared to celebrate Christmas in any of the “traditional” ways. No tree, no stockings, no gifts. But, while...CONTINUE READING

Giving Thanks

by Serena
Rejoice with us! The schoolbooks and supplies that we thought were lost have been found, expedited through customs in Lomé, and delivered to Mango! We have to laugh at God’s timing. The second order that was placed after all hope seemed lost arrived in Mango on Friday, November 3rd. The first order that was placed...CONTINUE READING

Ally’s Senior Photos

by Serena
It hardly seems possible that our Ally Grace is a senior in high school! She has grown into such a fun, compassionate, smart, athletic, musically gifted, hard working and godly young person. We could not be more proud of her! She is still making some difficult decisions about what life will look like next year....CONTINUE READING

The Ups and Downs

by Serena
It is hard to put into words all the events and emotions of the last month.  We have experienced some very high highs and some very low lows.  We have seen God’s faithfulness through it all. Sierra and the War in Israel: Two week ago, while the IBEX students were touring Petra in the country...CONTINUE READING

Volleyball in Togo

by Serena
On Saturday afternoons at 4 o’clock there is a volleyball club that meets for a couple of hours for some friendly competition. Marc and Ally have participated a couple of times and really enjoyed it! The rules of volleyball are pretty universal, so even though we lack a common language it has been a fun...CONTINUE READING

Going to Market

by Serena
Going to the “marche” is always an adventure! There are no grocery stores in Mango. All of our shopping is done at roadside stands, in little boutiques, and at the market. The market is the equivalent of a city block, filled with tents and makeshift stands. You can buy everything from wheelbarrows to bananas…but you...CONTINUE READING

We made it to Mango!

by Serena
We left Idaho on August 30th and arrived safely in Lome on the 31st. We traveled from Washington DC with the Wreesman family, who helped us navigate customs upon arrival, and then spent the first two days in the capital city purchasing supplies to bring up to Mango. Our drive up north took about 10...CONTINUE READING

The Final Countdown

by Serena
If the Lord wills, one month from today we will be disembarking from an Ethiopian Airlines flight in Lomé, the capital city of Togo. This will mark the fulfillment of nine months of praying, soul-searching, seeking counsel, applying to ABWE, field training, planning, and support-raising. At this time last year, we were just welcoming our...CONTINUE READING

100% Thank You!

Praise

  • The 2026/2027 school year is off to a great start! Our curriculum arrived over the summer, and we have juggled our schedules to accommodate all the students in K-8th grades.
  • God has brought several new missionary families to serve in Mango, and we are enjoying getting to know our new colleagues.
  • The Bible Institute graduated its first class from the three-year program.
  • We have much more reliable water and electricity in the house where we are living this year.
  • We are fully supported!

Prayer

  • Pray for unity among our growing team and a bright testimony to our Togolese coworkers and neighbors.
  • Wisdom for Valerie as she makes decisions about college, and wisdom for us as we weigh our options for language school next year.
