Who is Teaching Whom?
The longer we are here in Mango, the more we realize that we are the students and not the teachers. Every day we are learning more about the language and the culture; but more than that, we are learning what it means to surrender our lives to Christ. We may be involved in lesson planning, choosing curriculum, presenting information, grading papers, organizing activities, and maintaining a productive and fun classroom environment for the missionary kids … but there are much more important things that are happening all around us. We wish that we could give you a small glimpse of what happens on any given day here in Mango: Ethan is making arrangements and signing contracts for the hospital, Cindy is presenting the gospel in the cuisine, Bethany is teaching at Bon Berger, Evan is recording programs for the radio, Elizabeth is delivering another set of twins, Theresa is visiting a patient out in the village, Greg is maintaining the generator and hauling water, Jennifer is comforting a bereaved mother, Enoch is performing life-saving surgery, Steven is preparing lessons for the Bible Institute … and the list just goes on and on. We count it a privilege to serve on this team where we are learning much more than we are teaching. As you think of us, please pray for the other families who we serve alongside.
We are down to the last month of school for the 2025/2026 year. We will be flying back to the US on May 5th for Sierra’s graduation from The Master’s University. David and Sierra will be married on June 6th and the Lord is already providing very clear direction for their future. It is a wonderful thing to see His plan unfold in our kids’ lives. We will spend the bulk of the summer in Idaho and would love to connect with you, our faithful supporters and prayer partners. (Please reach out if we can come give a short report on any of the following dates: May 24, May 31, June 14, June 21, June 28, July 5, or July 12.) At the end of July, we will be attending two more weeks of missionary training out at ABWE headquarters in Pennsylvania. We are scheduled to return to Togo on August 17th for our fourth year of ministry at the MK school. It seems that we say this every year, but it is always true: next year will be another year of big transitions. We anticipate welcoming several new missionary families to Mango, who have had to relocate from a neighboring country due to security reasons. We have been praying for more laborers and God is apparently choosing to answer those prayers in ways that we would never have anticipated. Pray that these transitions would go well for everyone involved and that ultimately God would receive greater glory because of our partnerships for the gospel. We are so incredibly grateful for the ways that you have partnered with us over the last three years. Thank you … and to God be the glory!
