Sovereign Over Us
We attempted to send out an update in October, but the month completely got away from us. God knew. He had different plans. We were going to write about the wonderful start to the academic year at the MK school and the glorious rains that we were enjoying. And then the rain became TOO MUCH. The fields around us flooded, our neighbors lost their crops, malaria and dengue plagued the hospital, and hearts began to sink. Due to unforeseen family circumstances, our beloved “Aunt Ruth” (the main 6th through 8th grade teacher) had to leave abruptly to return to the States. Marc was already teaching Bible and science to this group of students, so he took over her math classes as well. Two amazing missionary moms stepped up to cover the history and language arts classes. As you can see from the picture above, this is our largest group EVER of missionary kids in Mango. We are so thankful for the opportunity to support these families and teach/disciple these great kids!
Today marks the end of the first quarter of school. We will be splitting our time this weekend between filling out report cards and moving to our new home off compound. We will be housesitting for another missionary friend who is going on furlough. It’s a great little house about 10 minutes away from school. Would you please pray for us? It will be a busy week as we settle in.
Please pray also for our Togo North Team (TNT). There are seven families who will be going on furlough next year, leaving HUGE holes in the medical and radio ministries. We desperately need God to provide the right people to fill these critical roles. Since so many families will be gone next year, we have been presented with a unique window of time that we might be able to dedicate to in-depth language learning. We are in the process of weighing our different language school options and asking the Lord to give us wisdom through this process. Not only do we want to learn to communicate effectively in French, but we want to ensure a good environment for Valerie to be able to continue her high school studies and develop solid friendships. We will be transitioning from “short-term” to “long-term” status with ABWE, which will require some additional training and meetings at the headquarters in Pennsylvania during the summer months, along with additional fund raising. We have watched in amazement as God has continued to meet our needs, but this is another big step of faith. He is sovereign over us, and we trust Him.
We are deeply grateful for your generous financial gifts and the support that you provide through prayer. We could not serve here without YOU!
