Day Trip to Kara
Kara is a town about 2 hours to the southeast of Mango. It’s an “easy” day trip if you need to do some grocery shopping, file some paperwork, or just get away. We packed in a LOT on one day trip last month while Sierra and Ally were here. We loaded 16 people into two vehicles and headed out of town at 7:30 AM.

Our first stop was some waterfalls along the way. Most of the water has dried up since we are well into dry season here in Togo, but it was still a beautiful location for a short hike.
After the hike, we cruised into town for some grocery shopping at a real grocery store and lunch at a sit-down restaurant. (Things that we don’t have in Mango!)

Then we drove over to see the lions and elephants at a local animal sanctuary. There were four adorable lion cubs that stole the show!
We pulled back into Mango just as the sun was setting on the savanna. It was a wonderful day for our family to spend enjoying the sights and sounds of Africa!
