Cleared for Take-Off
We have seen God do some incredible things over the last month! Things that literally bring us to tears as we marvel over the goodness and provision of our Jehovah Jireh! Although we are still at 75% of our monthly support requirements, we have received enough one-time gifts that ABWE gave us “FINANCIAL CLEARANCE” for our first year in Togo. That means that the current surplus in our support account can be distributed over the twelve-month term in order to supply the deficit in monthly commitments. Our goal is still to raise the remaining 25% of our monthly requirements so that we can stay in Mango long-term if God allows us to, but we are thrilled to be able to be in Togo for the beginning of the academic year as we had hoped and prayed!
Receiving “financial clearance” meant that we could make our flight reservations. We were able to secure tickets from Boise to Lomé on the same day that another veteran missionary family will be traveling back after their brief furlough. Traveling with them means that we will have someone to help us communicate, navigate customs, and do the initial shopping in the capital city before we make the 8 hour drive up to Mango.
Another huge and unexpected blessing was the provision of a car for us in Mango. Last week we were put into contact with a missionary family who is leaving Togo and needed to sell their small car. We had enough money in our O&P (Outfit and Passage) account that we were able to purchase their vehicle and have it there waiting for us when we arrive at the Hospital of Hope compound.
Not only is God providing for our needs in Togo, but He has also provided for our college-age daughter, Sierra. As many of you know, this was a heavy burden on our hearts. We were unsure if Sierra would be able to continue her education at The Master’s University or if she should to come with us to Togo … or stay in Idaho to work. God has graciously provided for her to continue to study at Master’s and she will be attending the IBEX (Israel Bible Extension program) for the fall semester. We are thrilled that we will be able to send her off to Israel just days before we leave for Togo.
We do not take these blessings lightly. We know that God is opening the doors because He has work for us to do in Togo. Please continue to pray that we will be faithful in our obedience as He shows us His will.
