Celebrating God’s Faithfulness
On February 26th, the Hospital of Hope employees, along with the missionary medical staff, celebrated ten years of service here in Mango. It is amazing to think about the platform that this hospital has given to the Gospel in this region of the world. Tens of thousands of patients from Togo and neighboring countries have come through our gates to receive compassionate physical care and have also been presented with the message of HOPE in Jesus Christ. Through the ministry of medicine, our staff has had the opportunity to share the love of God through the Word of God and prayer. We recently received the difficult news that Samaritan’s Purse will no longer be sending their support staff to Mango (citing security concerns), but we know that the harvest here is ripe and the work must continue. Please pray that the doors will stay open for our ministry.

Last month, our colleagues on the North Togo Team voted unanimously to allow us to transition to long-term status with ABWE while deferring our formal language school training until after Valerie graduates from high school (2027). With this affirmation, we have continued the application process for career service with ABWE and intend to be in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, for New Missionary Orientation from July 14 to 18th. This means that we will be traveling back to the United States as soon as our MK school year is over in June to visit our supporters and to make new contacts. We hope to be able to visit some new churches and would appreciate any opportunity to share about the work that God is doing in west Africa. Of course, we are needing to raise additional monthly support for ourselves (approx. $950/month), but we also need to recruit more laborers for a variety of ministries in Mango including church planting, Bible institute training, radio broadcasting, medical support, accounting services, and even maintenance! If you would like us to come and share in your congregation or small group, please reach out so that we can firm up our calendar for mid-June to mid-August. So far, most of our support has come from southern Idaho, but we would be happy to travel to new areas to talk about the opportunities that God has allowed us to have in northern Togo.

As we have mentioned before, the months ahead will be challenging for the missionary community in Mango. Several families will be going on furlough or transitioning to other fields and the hard goodbyes have already begun. Please pray for us as we help the missionary kids navigate these transitions…whether they are going away or staying behind. We know that beyond giving our students a solid academic foundation, our primary goal is to help them grow in their faith and teach them how to depend on God through the highs and lows of MK life.
Thank you for making our ministry possible by your faithful prayers and generous giving. We appreciate you very much.
